In addition to patents and utility model certificates, OBI also grants:

• Patents of addition for inventions which constitute a modification to another patent-protected invention
• Supplementary protection certificates for medicinal products (to have the protection period for a medicinal product extended under the conditions laid down by the legislation in force)
• Supplementary protection certificates for plant protection products (to have the protection period for a plant protection product extended under the conditions laid down by the legislation in force)
• Registration certificates for topographies of semiconductor products.

The rights provided by the aforementioned certificates are acquired and remain in effect only where the relevant fees have been paid to OBI (the legislation provides that discounts on the fees owed may apply in some cases).
