On Friday, April 17, 2026<\/strong>, within the framework of the 51st International Fur Exhibition of Kastoria<\/strong>, the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) held an informational event titled: \u201cThe protection of Industrial Property as a driver of growth for the Fur Industry businesses.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Entrepreneurs from the region were informed about the possibilities of protecting their intangible assets in Greece and abroad, with emphasis on the importance of registering Trademarks and Industrial Designs as a key defense against imitation and copying. Obtaining national, EU, or international protection rights is a strategic choice directly linked to the markets in which each business operates.<\/p>\n

In her address, Ms. Rania Zaharopoulou<\/strong>, Head of the OBI Communication Department, stressed that a registered Trademark and Industrial Design is a critical success factor and a means of creating a strong market identity. She also highlighted that these are valuable intangible assets that enhance competitiveness and act as a deterrent against illegal copying.<\/p>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Subsequently, Ms. Matina Chrysochoidou<\/strong>, Director of Trademarks, analyzed the essence and role of the Trademark, presenting the possibilities of registering both traditional and new types of marks, such as sound and audiovisual marks. She emphasized that trademark protection is \u201cthe signature\u201d and guarantee of quality of a business, strengthening consumer trust.<\/p>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Mr. Giorgos Kefalogiannis<\/strong>, staff member of the OBI Trademarks Service, presented the process of electronic filing of a national trademark, highlighting key points that applicants should pay attention to in order to secure a strong and effective mark.<\/p>\n

\u270f\ufe0f Mr. Aris Pittaras<\/strong>, Director of Application and Grants, informed the audience about the protection of Industrial Designs, explaining the conditions for protection (novelty and individual character) and the possibilities of search through the National Patent Register and DesignView.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, the procedures for registering Trademarks and Industrial Designs, being fully digitalized, fast, and cost-effective, constitute a fundamental tool for institutional protection and strategic strengthening of business identity. Their use significantly contributes to the formation of a strong and recognizable corporate presence in the market.<\/p>\n
