{"id":21985,"date":"2026-04-24T13:20:41","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T10:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.obi.gr\/?p=21985"},"modified":"2026-04-24T13:20:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T10:20:41","slug":"re-election-of-the-director-general-of-the-world-intellectual-property-organization-wipo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.obi.gr\/en\/re-election-of-the-director-general-of-the-world-intellectual-property-organization-wipo\/","title":{"rendered":"Re-election of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <strong>April 21, 2026<\/strong>, the Member States of the\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/portal\/en\/index.html\">World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)<\/a><\/strong>, elected Mr. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/darentang\/\">Daren Tang<\/a><\/strong> as Director General of WIPO for another six-year term.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"222\" data-end=\"452\">During his first term, he demonstrated outstanding leadership amid significant international challenges, contributing to strengthening the intellectual property system and bringing it closer to the needs of businesses and society.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"454\" data-end=\"710\">Upon his election, Mr. Daren Tang emphasized the need for intellectual property to become part of citizens\u2019 everyday life, highlighting its role as a driver of growth across all sectors of modern life, from agriculture and trade to culture and the economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"962\">A delegation from the <span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation<\/span> (OBI), consisting of its Director General, Mr. <b>Panagiotis Kanellopoulos<\/b>, and the Head of the International Affairs Department, Ms. <b>Myrto Lamprou Maurer<\/b>, participated in the General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1307\">The importance of developing digital tools and services that strengthen the system for filing international intellectual property applications was underlined by OBI\u2019s Director General, Mr. P.
