The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is honored to announce that Hella Jongerius is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the DesignEuropa Awards 2025.
The Jury, consisting of experts in design, entrepreneurship, and Intellectual Property rights, recognized her visionary contribution to contemporary design and her unique ability to integrate technical craftsmanship, texture, and cultural narrative in the field of innovation.
Her legacy conveys a powerful message to future generations about the role of empathy and purpose in design.
Through her collaborations with companies like Vitra, Maharam, and KLM, as well as her work at Jongerius Lab, Hella Jongerius has reshaped the way materials, color, and form can elevate both everyday objects and the environments in which they are placed. Her exceptional career and significant contributions to the field make her recognition with this prestigious honor truly well-deserved.
The EUIPO also presents the finalists for the DesignEuropa Awards 2025.
This year’s competition showcased an outstanding level of creativity and innovation, with over 1,250 nominees from 48 different countries reflecting the dynamic landscape of European design.
These outstanding candidates were carefully selected by the Jury in two distinguished categories:
- Entrepreneurs and Small Enterprises (SMEs): Recognizing emerging innovative entrepreneurs.
- Industry: Honoring the impact and excellence of established industrial companies.
The DesignEuropa Awards 2025 ceremony will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in collaboration with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office. Previous award ceremonies have been held in Milan (2016), Warsaw (2018), Eindhoven (2021), Berlin (2023), and Riga (2024).
The winner of the “Next Generation Design Award” will be announced on September 23, 2025, during the European Awards ceremony!”
