“What is on your table?”

This is the question posed by the European Union Intellectual Office (EUIPO) as part of its campaign for World Anti-Counterfeiting Day, which highlights the alarming threat posed by counterfeit food and drinks across the EU.

This initiative follows recent reports showing that counterfeiting in the food and beverage sector continues to pose significant risks to consumer health, while also harming Europe’s economies and its gastronomic heritage.

Authorities seized counterfeit food worth €91 million during a single operation across the EU.

Which are the 2 most frequently mentioned countries of origin for counterfeit food and drink products seized at the EU’s external borders?

How can consumers protect themselves?
