Successful completion of the “Packaging & Industrial Property” conference at FOODTECH–GLOBALPACK 2025

The conference “Packaging & Industrial Property” at FOODTECH–GLOBALPACK 2025 was successfully completed on Sunday, November 9, at the Metropolitan EXPO, confirming the pivotal role of innovation and its protection in the modern packaging industry.

The Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI), steadfast in its mission to promote knowledge dissemination and strengthen innovation protection, actively participated with its executives as speakers, presenting key aspects of industrial property related to packaging.

OBI representatives highlighted important dimensions of Intellectual Property (IPR) protection: Ms. Maria Voutzoulia analyzed the protection of Industrial Designs, emphasizing packaging as both a creative and functional element. Ms. Nefeli Korovessi and Ms. Elvira Georgiadou presented the procedures and significance of trademark registration. Later, Ms. Georgiadou focused on the role of the trademark as a core element of packaging.

The seminar was further enriched by contributions from OBI’s partners: Mr. Spyridon Peristeris (DIMEA, Ministry of Development) presented data on the seizure of counterfeit products and packaging, highlighting the importance of market surveillance. Mr. George Papadogoulas (University of West Attica, F&B Consultant) analyzed the impact of packaging counterfeiting on consumer deception and market trust.

The event underscored the importance of protecting packaging as a means of enhancing innovation, competitiveness, and consumer safety, while also serving as a meeting point for industry professionals, organisations, and experts — reaffirming the significance of Industrial Property protection as a driver of development.
