The Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA) and the Alexander Innovation Zone (AIZ) successfully co-organized the Specialized Educational Workshop titled: “The Contribution of Patents as a Bibliographic Source (Patent Literature) of Technological Information” on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the AIZ facilities in Thessaloniki.
The aim of the workshop was to enhance the technological knowledge and research skills of participants through the utilization of patents as a reliable bibliographic source for documenting innovation. Attendees had the opportunity, through targeted presentations and practical tools, to become familiar with searching and evaluating the informational value of patented technological content.
Opening Remarks and Key Presentations
The event was officially opened with a greeting by Mr. Kostas Tramantzas, General Director of the Alexander Innovation Zone. Mr. Anastasios Thomopoulos, Executive Director of the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA), also honored the event with his presence, contributing to the special atmosphere of the occasion.
The main presentations were delivered by:
- Dr. Lambros Pyrgiotis, Chemical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens, PhD in Regional Science – Social Sciences, Social and Economic Geography (Panteion University of Athens), Board Member of the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) and the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA).
- Mr. Loudovikos Vanerk, Mechanical Engineer from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Head of the Informatic and Telecommunication Department at OBI, Patent Examiner and a Board Member of HIPA.
The workshop was addressed to researchers from Academic Institutions and Research Centers in Thessaloniki and attracted interest from representatives of start-ups and the broader productive ecosystem, aiming to strengthen the documentation and assessment of the innovative character of their research work.
This initiative is part of the strategic efforts of the co-organizers to connect research with innovation and enhance national technological competitiveness.
