Developments in Intellectual Property Law Trademark – Geographical Indications
The informational event titled “Developments in Intellectual Property Law Trademark – Geographical Indications” was successfully held yesterday afternoon in the meeting room of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Greetings were delivered by Professor Panagiotis Glavinis, Dean of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh); Ms. Anna Despotidou, Associate Professor in the Department of Commercial and Economic Law at AUTh’s Law School; Ms. Theodora Simitsi, Lawyer and Deputy General Director of the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI); and Ms. Antje Söder, Representative of the EUIPO.
Following the greetings, Ms. Matina Chrysochoidou, Director of Trademarks at OBI, presented details about the process of legal remedies before the Administrative Boards. Subsequently, Ms. Theodora Simitsi, Deputy General Director of OBI, gave an update on the recent case law regarding European Trademarks.
Ms. Elvira Georgiadou, Trademark Lawyer at OBI, presented information on Geographical Indications and the new EU Regulation on Geographical Indications for handcrafted and industrial products. Finally, Mr. Giorgos Kefalogiannis, Head of Online Filing at OBI, spoke about the online trademark filing process in Greece.
An engaging discussion followed with attending students and members of the academic community.

The informational seminar was co-organized by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI), and the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
