During 25–26 June 2026, the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) hosted at its headquarters a training visit by a five-member delegation from the General Directorate of Industrial Property (GDIP) of Albania.
The training programme covered:
- the national patent granting procedure;
- the preparation of search reports accompanied by a written opinion;
- the handling of deficiencies during the patent application search process;
- the preparation of preliminary search reports as a strategic business tool;
- the presentation of the artificial intelligence tool developed by OBI to support the examination of patent applications;
- the Innovation Support Unit and its initiatives to strengthen the links between research, innovation and entrepreneurship;
- the industrial design registration procedure.
Ms Katerina Margellou, Deputy Director General of OBI and Director of Legal Support, highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two national intellectual property offices for the benefit of the industrial property ecosystems of both countries.
The commitment of the two offices to further strengthen their cooperation in promoting industrial property was reaffirmed through the signing of a five-year extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two offices by Mr Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, Director General of OBI, and Ms Maria Solis Kapedani, Director General of GDIP.
