The educational programme of the “AUTHENTICITIES” project was held with great success in Rhodes on 16 October 2026, aiming to inform and raise awareness among young people about product counterfeiting and piracy.
The programme is implemented by the Municipality of Rhodes and the European Union Intellectual Property Office – EUIPO, promoting the value of purchasing authentic products and the protection of intellectual property.
Lower secondary school students had the opportunity to learn about basic concepts such as inventions (patents), industrial designs and trade marks, while also learning about the impact of counterfeit products on the economy, employment, health and consumer safety.
Through interactive presentations delivered by OBI staff members Rania Zacharopoulou and Vivian Makri, everyday examples and engaging discussions, the importance of innovation, creativity and responsible consumer behaviour was highlighted.
