The Candidate Support Programme (CSP), organised by the European Patent Office in collaboration with the national patent offices of its member states, supports aspiring European patent attorneys in preparing for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE). See relevant infographic for the CSP.
The programme is designed to help build a more inclusive and diverse patent profession by improving geographical representation and gender balance, while providing motivated candidates with the support they need to pass all five EQE papers and qualify as a professional representative before the EPO.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are:
- Keen to sit the EQE and determined to pass the examinations progressively
- Ready to follow a three-year preparation programme, covering the following EQE journey:
- Paper F in 2027
- Papers M1 and M2 in 2028
- Papers M3 and M4 in 2029
- Interested in being part of the CSP alumni and contributing to support future candidates and promote the profession.
What support will you receive?
If selected, you will receive CSP support, which may include:
- Comprehensive CSP support, including high-quality training, coaching from experienced European patent attorneys and financial support; or
- Full EQE fee support covering the enrolment fee and examination fees for all five EQE exams, for one sitting each
How many places are available?
Under the current framework, the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) can nominate:
- up to four (4) candidates for the comprehensive CSP support, and
- up to six (6) candidates for the full EQE fee support.
How to apply
The application period for CSP EQE 2027-2029 runs from:
20 April 2026 (09:00 CET) to 31 May 2026 (18:00 CET)
During this period, you must
- familiarise with the conditions for participation
- complete and submit the CSP online application form (available only within the application window).
Your application must include:
- Proof of permanent residence
- Motivation letter
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Letter of support from your employer
- Proof of enrolment for the EQE 2027 Paper F
Key dates
- Application deadline: 31 May 2026
- Selection results: by 10 July 2026
- Programme start (i.e. training and coaching): October 2026
- Paper F of the EQE: 1 March 2027
