The Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) participated in the 1st Panhellenic Student Conference on Chemical Sciences and Technologies, ChemiST Con Greece 2026 (April 17–19), held at the KEDEA Amphitheatre of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), contributing to the scientific dialogue on the link between research and intellectual property.
At the workshop “From research to patent”, the Organisation’s associates, Ms. Christina Andrikopoulou, Chemist – Examiner at the Search Directorate, and Dr. Georgios Asimopoulos, Chemist and associate of the Thessaloniki Regional Office from the Directorate of Technological Information, presented—through a well-documented and practical approach—the key stages of transforming scientific research into protectable and commercially exploitable innovation. The presentation covered the institutional framework for the protection of inventions, the methodology for obtaining a patent, the structure of descriptions and claims, as well as the use of technological information tools such as Espacenet.
In parallel, within the same workshop, Professor Ioannis Konstantinou (University of Ioannina) presented research work in the field of the circular economy, highlighting applications of chemical research with potential for protection and exploitation.
OBI’s participation highlighted its role as a scientific and institutional body that actively supports the transition from knowledge to innovation, strengthening the link between academic research and practical application.
