The Greek Experience in the International WIPO Dialogue on the Equal Participation of Women in the Intellectual Property Ecosystem

The Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) participated in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) international conference on “IP and Gender”, which brought together representatives of national intellectual property offices, international organisations and innovation stakeholders to promote the equal participation of women in innovation and the intellectual property ecosystem.

OBI was represented by Ms Uioulli Papapostolou, Director of Technological Information and Head of the Innovation Agency, who took part in the conference proceedings. As part of a special WIPO initiative, she also delivered a recorded video statement presenting the Greek experience and highlighting the key challenges women face in accessing the intellectual property system.

Her contribution addressed issues such as the underrepresentation of women in sectors with high patenting activity, the challenges of translating research into innovation, and the need to strengthen access to knowledge, funding and support networks.

OBI’s participation reaffirms its ongoing commitment to the international dialogue on fostering a more inclusive innovation ecosystem, where women and men have equal opportunities to create, protect and leverage their intellectual property.
