The seminar for Intellectual Property professionals, organised in cooperation with the EUIPO Boards of Appeal, was held with great success on 5 October 2026 at the OBI premises, as part of the visit of a delegation led by the President, Mr Sven Stürmann.
Following the welcome address by OBI Deputy Director General Theodora Simitsi, the speakers presented the most important developments and recent case law of the Boards of Appeal, case law on designs and the new EU Regulation, as well as the assessment of the likelihood of confusion where the similarity between trade marks resides in a weak element.
The programme also included a presentation by OBI and concluded with a roundtable discussion on weak trade marks, attended by representatives of both offices, as well as a judge and a lawyer. Participants particularly appreciated the opportunity for direct dialogue with members of the Boards of Appeal.
As part of the visit, a bilateral meeting was also held between the President of the AC OBI P. Kamposos, OBI Director General P. Kanellopoulos and OBI staff, and the President of the Boards of Appeal, Mr Stürmann, with representatives of the Boards of Appeal, with a view to further strengthening cooperation between the two organisations.
OBI extends its warm thanks to the EUIPO delegation and to everyone who participated in the event.
